The syllabon "Gu" in the word "Guzheng" simply indicates its age, "Gu" stands for "old". This way, many instruments in China have to be called "Gu", like the "GuQin" zither. The special fact about China is that most of the instruments actually performed have to been seen among the oldest instruments of the world.
