I like this photo too, and think Mike's tweaking has helped (though upped the coloured noise). Well done, Dunc

Very ununsual and very effective!
I like the tight crop also.
Just for interest I tried a bit of PP to see if the "mist" could be removed.
Here's the result (histogram equalised, unsharp mask radius 32):
