KM C69 Transparency and Translucency hosted by Mike Parsons

KM Challenge #69 (C69) Theme: Transparency and Translucency

This challenge is all about those things which let through some or all light, ranging from the clear (e.g. glass) to the nearly opaque (e.g. paper).
My dictionary gives a definition of Translucent as "transmitting and diffusing light so that objects beyond cannot be seen clearly" whereas Transparent is "transmitting light so that bodies beyond are entirely visible".
I'd particularly like to see images that use transparent or translucent materials to produce interesting effects (e.g. soft focus, blurred backgrounds, diffuse lighting, tints).
(Examples of translucent materials you might like to experiment with at home include: ice, tracing paper, frosted glass, packaging, even fine fabrics such as silks, etc.)
