She who must be obeyed mentioned that I've gotten away from taking photos at family gatherings. Since I have all of my new toys for my winter "learn to do studio lighting" project, there seemed to be no excuse to avoid getting a family shot at today's Christmas dinner with my son's family.
Nothing fancy, just a single SB800 attached to the D70 hotshoe & bounced off the ceiling. I can see things that I'd like to try differently - but not today.
I took several test shots and here you see two of them overlaid on one another. In the first photo I'm behind the camera to see the result. In the second I sat in a chair to see if I could fire the camera from there with the IR remote - which obviously worked. Against my better judgement (don't stick my mug into a PAD), I'm going with this.
