Whatever Is It?

Montz, Louisiana

It was almost dark when I shot this in the middle of the Mississippi River.
It looks like the African Queen. With a closer look it appears to be a floating streetcar or traincar with a cowcatcher on the front. There were huge ocean going vessels in front of it and behind it and it was just chugging along. I shall have to look into this further as I find it quite interesting.

Unusual vessal, could be a cable layer or even a dumping platform.

Is it a dredging boat??? They look like that on the Tennessee River.

The thumb really aroused my curiosity....let us know what you find out. When I saw the thumb I thought it was somehow Oriental, but the African Queen is a better description.

I think we saw its younger brother this past January on the east coast.
