In the rich West most of handicapped people are hided away in institutions and we feel ashamed seeing them, the imperfection of nature.
Here in the South these handicapped people stay part of the society, they don't become unworldly, no they are taken care of by everyone, giving some food, a shelter at night in the doorway of shops and they even get some money for guarding these shops at night ... they still have a function in this society, at their level.
Don't forget that the most of us will be sheltered away in homes when we become old and not useful anymore to the economic society ... you would still be better of by the care and your task in Tamil family even at old age.
