This is an oblique view of the temporary lake on the salt flats. The water is about four inches (10cm)
deep, lying atop a pinkish layer of salt and dirt. The white spots are very thin patches of what
appeared to be salt, floating on the water; those patches cast dark shadows on the pink surface below.
It is challenging but possible to match some patches with their shadows: the light is coming from
the upper right. The red line at right is a rusting metal rod about one foot (30cm) long.
