Jon Jones

Vitez, Bosnia

Jon Jones, a Yorkshireman, was born and raised in Uganda. One time we pulled up to a UN checkpoint manned by Africans and Jon spoke to them in a strange language. What was funny was the Africans didn't bat an eye. Speaking Kikuyu, or whatever, in the middle of Bosnia was completely normal. Another time Jon and I were cruising along a mountain road in the Shoreland when a column of British tanks and trucks appeared ahead of us, coming our way. Without slowing Jon pulled over to the left side of the road. The oncoming tank, followed by the other vehicles, all moved to their left. We passed each other as if we were in Britain. I just about had a heart attack. "That was really nuts Jon!" I said. "Obviously, you're the only one who didn't get it," he replied.
