Yes, I suppose they do! I remember seeing these moments of transition in Taiwan in the 70's.

Great Pong, indeed! You are so good at it Kal...:))) I love everything in this picture, especially the slope, life's never been easy for the working people.. Thanks again, you really made my day!!!

The environment has been erased, that's the big change. What a disturbing pong!

Flies pressed against the edge of the window frame.Buzzing frantically with their own concerns.Within their brief summer season .As the window view changes from time to time.

tradition versus modern life. Perfectly brought together here.

A remarkable pair of pictures (ping and pong?) which are incredibly similar compositions but portray very different contexts. Also a tribute to this community bringing such expressions/visions together.

Glad to see that Jen has inspired you to make this picture, Kal. Her image is more harmonious and less harsh in its contrasts. Her China is still an agricultural one. Yours is not. Your image is more jarring. Instead of a hoe, your worker incongruously carries Coca-Cola. And your human counterparts appear to be of an altogether different generation and social class than the ladies in Jen's shot. And as Ai Li notes, the bridges are strikingly different as are the backgrounds. Yes, China is changing. But you and Jen each tell that story in strikingly different ways.

Some things never change, there's always a working class and a leisure (perhaps tourist) class. Changes are inevitable. Jen's one was a wooden bridge, while yours has "evolved" to a rock/stone pathway. The slope itself signifies imbalance and gradient of change. Even in the background, the texture changes from wood to metal. It's indeed a superb pong, Kal. Just brilliant as always.
