Beetles (order: Coleoptera) are the largest order in the animal kingdom, with more than 350,000 described species worldwide, representing about 40 percent of known insects with over 23,000 species in 131 families in North America. Needless to say, these are the most difficult to gain a specific identification on due to the massive numbers. I know little more about insects than how to photograph them, and that's a learning process even now. I do try my best to find ID's on what I photograph, and use web sites as my source. My preferred site is Bug Guide, and here's the link to the beetles:http://bugguide.net/node/view/60/bgimage?from=0 Today I went through the first 50 pages of beetles trying to ID this one and several others I've photographed, but didn't ID a single one. This is a good shot, but be careful! Shooting these can become habit forming. Thanks, you're a real bud. :-)

It's a bed bug. Don't let it bite!

It's a gentlemanbug coming home from a very rough night. He won second prize.
