They are very people-shy...but not really dangerous. They don't really bite unless you grab them by the tail. They typically run away (they're pretty fast) if you get within 5 feet of them. They can grow to 4-5 feet long, and some people have them as pets. You have to watch their tail when they are larger...they will fling it at you defensively if they are scared. These things are now populating all over south Florida...this one sits in my backyard.
