This milky-cap is considered 'good-eating' by many mushroom-lovers (who also like fish and shellfish). Notice how close the gills are compared with the other favorite milky-cap, Lactarius hygrophoroides. (Look at the Sylvan Glen walk from the previous week to see the differences). Also, the white 'latex' in Lactarius volemus changes the color of the gills, where bruised, brown.
