Trois par trois, les apôtres descendent de la flèche aux points cardinaux.
Le dernier est l'autoportrait de l'architecte Viollet-le-Duc qui se retourne pour contempler son oeuvre.
L'apôtre est en fait Saint Thomas, le saint patron des architectes.
L'aigle qui précède les apôtres, symbolise l'évangéliste Jean.

Three by three, the apostles go down from the arrow at the cardinal points.
The last one is the self-portrait of the architect Viollet-le-Duc who is looking back to contemplate his works.
The apostle is in fact Saint Thomas, the patron saint of the architects.
The eagle which precedes the apostles symbolizes the Jean evangelist.
