Another building but I couldn't take notes while taking photos during the day so it's only memory and sometimes my memory just doesn't have enough capacity to retain it all. Can any viewers out there help me out? A fellow Pbase'r let us all know that "THIS is the Lincoln Memorial. It is rectangular with the names of the states written around the edges (if you know what you are looking for you can see Missouri, Maine, Alabama, Illinois and others in the picture). The 36 states on the lower level represent those in the Union at the time of Lincoln's death and are written above each of the 36 columns. The additional 12 states added to the union at the time of completeion are on the higher level. Alaska and Hawaii are recognized in a plaque.
