Here is where I left unneeded equipment the day before when hiking up to the mesa. Now I
am getting all my gear re-arranged so it fits in my bags. Then a short walk through the
tamarisk jungle to the river's edge, where I will wait for the jetboat, due at 1400.
The oldest item is the red bag at right---a sleeping bag stuff sack that goes
back at least to the mid-1970s. It has two rows of grommets through which one
can lace a compression cord. The newest item is the bamboo hiking stick , which
I bought in Salt lake City at the start of this trip.
