Vermeerish, indeed! Your image is rich in dualities -- matching Belgian bar patrons, and matching neon signs incongruously juxtaposed against medieval reflections, linked only by a squiggle of contemporary graffiti.
I love Brusse;s Grand Place -- and so do you. I photographed a pair of windows on the very same square last year. I based my own expression on color and reflection, rather than people. It's athttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/45570126 Speaking of color, I am wondering if your own image would acquire still another dimension of expression if it was in color, rather than black and white? It certainly works in B&W, but perhaps the infusion of color might add something to the sense of age, given the medieval context here.
