The mind works in strange ways. When I took this picture I was thinking that the shadowy
wall and the bright sky with clouds looked nice, maybe even "artsy." Only when I prepared
the photo for uploading did the smoke metaphor become apparent. This was taken from the
rock bench at the northeast end of the mesa's ridge, looking northwest.
