the source of a concern

Sometimes when making adaptations, what you are adapting for can create unforseen problems.

In this case of adapting a hub adapter designed for use with a different ignition system that uses a very lightweight alloy toothed gear, for use with an ignition system that uses a steel toothed gear, the steel gear itself created a concern about a possible problem:

...the weight of the steel toothed gear itself.

After resizing the center to fit the EDIS hub adapter, the toothed gear still weighed 14oz. To pick it up and hold it: it felt like a heavy piece of steel.

And that piece of steel would be rotating at some serious RPMs.

The possible problem: the toothed gear, because of its considerable weight, might not want to stay in position during acceleration or deceleration. The weight would create some serious inertial forces.
