Thanks for sympathy!

The lens glass is fine - the filter did indeed save it. However, it caved in towards the front glass and tore all of the threading out of one side of the front filter ring. Remains to be seen if it can accept another filter...

My second exhibition entry is taken with this lens post cutting the ring off with a penknife!

Ouch! Hopefully the filter saved the *real* glass behind it. How'd you manage to crack it?

oops! did you damage your front element as well? Or did the filter save your lens?
