Ray, this is a powerful, emotive photo. While I tend to avoid taking photos of the destitute, because they are such an obvious target, there are times when you know you feel bound to take it; that it is the RIGHT thing to do, even though you may not be able to justify it rationally. I believe this was one of those moments and peoples' reactions would seem to back that up. I can see myself there thinking 'I need to take this.' V.

I first saw this position of street-beggars on my recent trip to Prague, and it struck me as a very degrading and submissive pose,as if you`ve given up all hope and there`s nothing left but the charity of others.A very strong image that raises big
issues!Great job and a vote from me!:-)

Very sad and moving, Ray.

Different yet similar shot about human humility and helplessness. Like what I'd said to Kal, it's a sad image that probably leaves many of us in a state of profound silence. Brilliant, Ray.

Awesome Ray. What strikes me is that this image could be set in the 19th century and you would not know, save for the fact that it is recorded on a camera in colour. It's timelss, as timelss as the worn cobbles that lead us to the desperate plea. That plea is timeless, and seems neverending. Like time has stopped. Beautiful lighht. K
