The Atomium has been renewed completely and you can see some of this works in my atomium Gallery http://www.pbase.com/lou_giroud/atomium

The main works are now finished and just the fences and barracks are still on the ground beside of it. I will mlake new shots once all is gone and cleared.

The balls habe been garnished with light diode spots and each ball glows with the pattern of the atomic sign in the night. Here a first view of this new piece of art.

Note that the Atomium's structure is the one of one atom of iron
and had been build for the world exhibition in Brussels in 1958.
Similar to the Eiffel tower in Paris that had been setup
for 1900 world exhibition, the building was not teared down
and stands today as a symbol for Brussels.
