Some 20 years ago, I was dating a lovely young lady from the state of Texas named Patricia.
She was a very tall woman, topping out at about six feet three inches, and though she was
always somewhat special to me, … she and I both knew that a lasting relationship was not
very likely between us. She was the first (and last) woman to ever send me some growing
plants to the Bank that I worked at the time, … a very beautiful Cactus Garden complete
with a miniature little ceramic “steer skull” to add a south western flavor to it.
Along with the cactus garden, she included a hand written card, and when I read it I roared
in laughter. It said simply, “Always remember, … it’s okay to prick your finger, …
but it’s never never okay to finger your p_ _ _.”
I often wonder what has happened to Patricia over the years, … and I hope she is happy
and content in her life with some tall Texan to keep her company. To this day every time
I buy myself a little cactus garden, I remember her card and smile. She was indeed a sweet
lady, and though we dated only a short time, (about four months), she’s made a lasting
impression on my heart and spirit.
Remembering old loves with fondness, …
It’s a guy thing.
