Franky2005, I don't know that you missed anything, maybe just a difference in how we see the pic. I hate to go too far with the "what I was doing", but since I got what I was looking for, let me say that I am interested in a flattened almost two dimentional landscape view that visually has my eye moving back and fourth over the surface of the photo. I liked the birch on the left because it let me enter the photo and read across like writing on a page creating a rhythm from light to dark to the centerfold grey then light to dark and into a shimmer of gold leaves then back across the middle line horizon. I like the verticle rectangular shapes between the trees and I was very happy that it was raining so the light was very flat and the color was strong and saturated.

Bill, to be honest, I am a little bit lost with this picture. Personnaly I would try to use the two trees in the front (left and right) as the frame for the scene and also crop the picture from below. Still it can be that I completely miss something here. I would be interested on what the focus is for you.
