You spend day after day building up that perfect callus which is supposed to protect you from the rough rock. Then, one day, you grab that hold and realize that your enthusiasm exceeds your abilities at that moment. That which is supposed to protect you becomes the source of intolerable pain. The callus is ripped from the rest of your flesh, leaving you defenseless.
That sucks...
