18th March 2006 - eye sees light

Yeah yeah, I’ve got a macro lens and I’m gonna use it.

I don’t know what made me think that a sprouting potato would make a good pic but for some reason I did and I think I was proven right. So, here is a sprouting potato!

In my world it has been spring for a couple of weeks now, based on the rule of equally dividing the months into four chunks of three and then allocating each chunk to a season – March is the start of my spring and yet we’ve still been experiencing bitter cold with snow and ice.

Today’s temperature reached a balmy five degrees C and it felt like a hot day!

Nature marches on though and more light means things are getting ready for spurting growth. For reasons that I won’t go into today, I bought potatoes in a clear plastic sack and they’ve started to sprout. This one escaped the paring knife today but will surely find its way into a pot over the next couple of days. In the meantime, its valiant effort to create new life is recorded for posterity here.

We’re still working like dogs on our grand plan but gave ourselves a little break to spend a happy hour and a half watching my beloved Spurs beat Birmingham City to retain fourth spot in the table despite the competition hotting up now – any Gooners looking in, click here….

A message to 'Stefan SERB' – we have a wonderful, liberal country where people are free to say what they like. I, however, pay for my pbase space and therefore I can censor what I like from my own pages. I have chosen to censor your nasty, racist, sexist and deeply offensive comments from my pages and I will continue to do so if you add more. You know what to do if you hate it here so much and hate our religious and cultural freedom – go and ply your malicious trade elsewhere.

Last year, I was coming home.

Man, from the thumbnail I thought this was some kind of chicken claws or something else a bit twisted... I was wondering what you were up to! I'm glad that's not what it turned out to be...

I thought it was four little piglets. You could send it into Esther Rantzen.

Whoa! I agree with Robert, what freaky looking things, they look alive, well I know they are alive... Anyway, great idea for a macro!
