The hands are the true interface between a climber and his medium, the rock. It is an intimate relationship. But, like any spirited relationship, it often involves love and hate. Whatever the emotion, it is so well expressed in the hands...often times even more so than the face. Perhaps the essence of a climber is best captured in a portrait of the hands.

Like the pic but not sure on your comment. To me the essence of a climber is best described by the ability to handle difficult situations, whilst remaining in control of all of his / her body. After all if his foot slips now then he will no longer be on the wall :)
