Road to Mandalay.....?

Burma

This is what you'll see as you approach Mandalay northbound on the Ayerawaddy River. The bridge in the background is the famous U Lwin Bridge, built before the war, destroyed during the war, and rebuilt just after the war - all by the British. The bridge in the foreground is mid-way thru completion, built with Japanese money. As you sail closer to the bridges, an interesting optical illusion takes place - the new bridge appears to 'move' and close it's gates whilst the older bridge stays steady.
