Site of Sid Mars Restaurant in Bucktown

Bucktown in Metairie, Louisiana

Sid Mars was known for its fabulous seafood and you could watch the Lake Pontchartrain while dining. It was a charming little place with no frills, only delicious food. The owner had hoped to rebuild but the Corps of Engineers is taking this property as well.

I remember eating at Sid Mars on a trip to New Orleans when I was in high school. I had never heard of soft shell crab before...but it was so delicious. It makes me sad to see the place reduced to this.
