The first major public event since Katrina drew thousands of runners from all over the country for the 25 mile run. Part of the route was through ravaged, still unihabitated neighborhoods.
The temperature at the start was 40 degrees with low humidity, perfect running weather.
Coleen Perilloux Landry retains the international copyright not only for the original image but also for any versions of it.
