The gift shop is owned and staffed by the Hospital Auxiliary and all proceeds revert to the hospital for special needs.
National Guard troops guarded the hospital for several weeks after the storm and people with no place to go swarmed to the hospital. It was important to get the Gift Shop up and running as soon as possible because nothing in the area was open and no one around to manage anything with the "stay away" policy of authorities. I was happy to be able to get in within a week and make arrangements to open the shop for the benefit of the hospital and community.
