Red Square Parking Garage, University of Washington, Seattle view map
This is a stairway at the University of Washington parking garage under Red Square. The stairs lead from the underground garage to ground level (Red Square).
I was on my way to the Map Room to study topographic maps of Utah and saw a convex security mirror mounted on the wall. I thought it was a shame to let a good mirror go to waste, so I took this picture. I think this is my first digital "reflection" self-portrait.
Lee this is the "digital birthplace": I did it for years with film.
It just occurred to me that this photo is symbolic of a birth because in it I am climbing out of an underground parking garage---coming into the world, so to speak.
