After eating breakfast and cleaning up, I soaked up the sun while gazing with anticipation at the Columbia River. The ground was so rough that sleeping in my text was out of the question. I slept in the car. On the USGS topographic map of this area, this spot is labeled “Camp,” after the name of the nearby survey marker.
Joe Tripod, my personal photographic assistant, stood on rough ground to make this picture possible. It didn’t bother his at all.
