Lucy was pretty timid when we first brought her home. We set the carrier down in the laundry room where her litter box and food were located and she did not want to leave her carrier. When she finally emerged frm the carrier she immediately darted into the space behind the washing machine. When she came back out she looked so funny with dust bunnies hanging off her whiskers and fur.

She also hid in the shoe rack, but once I brought her out and was petting her she warmed up. But she was easily spooked and would hide again. For most of the night she hung out in the laundry room, taking a few brave steps into the kitchen. She looked comfortable in her bed, so we left her there when we went upstairs to go to bed. I was on my side facing my nightstand and almost asleep, when I heard claw sounds on the side of the bed and a little kitty head popped up next to mine. I was startled, which startled Lucy, and she took off. We were so surprised she left the laundry room - we thought she would hang in there the whole night. At one point I heard a noise and I wanted to make sure she was okay, but I didn't see her so just went back to bed. Later on we figured out the noise was her. Rather than meowing, she squeaks. She's starting to make more meow-like sounds, but she still does the squeaking thing, which is cute.
