The Oldest City
by Jerry Curtis

The harbour and the older downtown part of what is reputed to be the oldest city in North America, the City of St. John's, Newfoundland, from Signal Hill.

Tonight was cold and very windy, so, rather than try the tripod, I set the camera on the stone wall surrounding the parking lot and used the self-timer to lessen camera shake. Still there was some shake!

Anyway, just wanted a little something to kick off the challenge, since I missed getting anything eligible for the last one ;-)
Hopefully will get a better one to replace this one - if the wind dies down here before the challenge ends!

Jerry - this is a great idea for the challenge. I would love to see a retake. It might be interesting to try at dusk with a blue sky and maybe capture some reflections too with a seperate exposure and blend that in... ~gk

Jerry, you have a good vantage point to take a grand panoramic shot of the harbor. I like the panorama format and thousands of night lights you've captured. I'm glad to learn that you have the opportunity to re-visit, re-shoot and possibly try to improve on it. If I have the same opportunity, I'd probably try to shoot this during dusk to capture more colors and details. Thanks for the information about the place and thank you for your participation.... Sonny
