January 10: The Real Thing

Rancho Bernardo, CA

Yesterday viriginiacoastline (A.KA. Pete) wondered aloud why I had not doctored up my image by putting something that really isn't there into the image. And then Dan Chusid (A.K.A. Dan Chusid) questioned my claim that I was using my 15mm fisheye lens.

Here is the deal folks (drum roll please)… all this month I am posting undoctored images. That means there are no parts of the frame that were not in it in the first place.* This is my modest effort to try some new learning for me… shooting straight. ;-) Everything is genuine.

I'll continue to do things like Levels, Curves, USM, and maybe a dodge or burn, but no pasting into the image of subjects that were not there in the first place!

BTW, the little figurine is a gift from Michele that she bought in Oaxaca.

* Before I was full committed to this January plan I did manipulate one image earlier in the month.

Nice shot. I like the vividness of colours, the light and shadow, and sharpness. :)

That's funny...sometimes we forget that great photos come from simplicity.

I'll have to look at your earlier galleries and see if you added stuff :-D

A novel idea, and I'm convinced you'll wow us as much as your creative mind and eye, as you have with your PS skills.

I look forward to your straight images and what you come up with.
This is very nice - great colors on the creature and the focus on the text is superb.

You forgot to stop the drum rolls.... :D IMHO, you have the top of the line cameras, why don't you do a pure genuine? That's only with crop, I guess... Anyway, I love the natural light into this one and is a very creative ideea shot! V!
