January 11: Three Funerals and A Wedding

San Diego, CA

I rarely wear a coat and tie (see below) except for funerals and weddings. Today I attended my third funeral in one month. Sami's wedding was way back in September.

We celebrated the life of a fine man, Armand Campillo, who had a great zest for life and unimpeachable integrity. He was our client and friend.

Photographically speaking I wasn't quite clear which one made the better PaD … top or bottom? Otherwise, as promised yesterday, no trickery.

Canon EOS 5D ,Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM
1/400s f/10.0 at 24.0mm iso400 -- Curves, USM, Minor straightening full exif

Sorry for your losses.....but I too am glad that you celebrated his life and not mourn his passing. I also vote for the more powerful bottom image.

To lose so many friends in such a short time is a really somber thing.

I like the bottom one more, Robin, even though I love the clear California light of the one on top.

Sorry for your recent losses Robin. Seems like you've had your share, 3 in a month :(
Bottom one gets my vote. Simple, humble and very good.

Robin, no one ever said living, or dying for that matter was going to be easy. Life goes on and at least you have something to remember your good friend by. Good of you to take the time and forethought for this image. Top one gets my vote...literally.

Robin, looks as if it was a beautiful day for a rememberance and celebration. I would select the Bible photo if I were forced to make a selection.

My condolences for your losses.
It was good to read that you celebrated his life, not just mourned.
I like the messages in both pictures.
It shouldn't break any rules to have a two picture day.

I hope Gail is right, I'll hang mine up too. Nice capture of this scene, I've never seen wheels like that on a Hurst. I didn't hear you celebrate any over your computer did I miss something.

They say death comes in threes so let's hope you can put the coat and tie away for a while! I love the shot with the bible.

Both are equally great shots Robin. Trying to convince my wife the 5D should be my next investment.
