The middle piece alone is called the decorative altar, or the reredos. It came
from San Blas, Mexico in 1796. The side altars followed in 1810. Amazing in
it's craftsmanship, the marble pillars are really made of finely carved wood &
the gold leaf adorning all three altars is as it was when it was shipped here.
I was not able to truly capture it on film this trip, but you can be sure there will
be another. Armed with knowledge & tripod in hand, a better shot will come. Some day.
