"The first of it's kind - a legendary model fourty five"

What we have here is 'failure to communicate'. Here is a full analysis of a semi cucstom knife from the beautiful people at Benchmade. It is documented as a 45 Custom. It sports a 4 inch mirror polish 'modern (politically correct) weehawk' blade and BOASTS heavy stainless MILLED handles.

One thing of note is the HUGE tang pin and the equally differntly shaped tang pin canals to diminish stress during manipulation. They also sport the deeply chamfered and rounded handles for less stress on the fingers especially during feinger twirls. The rounded handles are seen nowadays in the model BM42. I guess they had the right idea. This blad eis numbered 1 of 150 made.
