5 3/4 Pound Bug

Winter was in the air as we were gearing up under the light of a full moon. While paddling out it became apparent that conditions would once again surpass expectations. I went just around the opening while Fred and Mark went a little further down the wall. I descended into conditions that albeit chilly, didn't disappoint - nice vis and low surge. Moving slowely, I tried to put on another light show while rapidly firing off photos. At the end of my dive I saw a 5 3/4 pound lobster piering or of it's protective hole and retreating back to safety. I swam around the backside to see a big back door as the lobster retreated back to the front door. Back and fourth the dance continued until the big bug exited out the back door into my waiting hands.

Mark and Tom arrived back at the dock after me. Mark with 6 bugs and Fred with 3 or 4. There was excitement in their voices as they talked about the great conditions and Mark's tale. This is where my story ends and Mark's continues.

Note: I couldn't find my fish scale, so I had to weigh my lobster on my 5lb postal scale at home. Since the lobster maxed out the scale I had to tear off the tail and weigh both pieces seperately -4lb body and 1 3/4 pound tail. There was quite a bit of lobster juice lost with this technique, so he really might have been 10-12 pounds :-)
