bugs2_6368.jpg

I am still laughing out load, Lobster JuiceJ ….….I have heard that it is quite tasty is a shot glass with a little vodka, tabasco and a lime??? If you let it setup a while, it is like a jello shotJ
So, as the tall tales continue Fred and I had three bugs a piece and moving north on the wall. The bugs started getting more and more numerous As the air was getting lower and lower. Down to 1200PSI, I needed to turn around but didn’t, Down at the base of the wall I caught #4, then #5, then #6 a solid 2.5 pounder in the span of 2 minutes, thinking in my mind that I just need one more…there it was…..The Grand Daddy of bugs just about to head out into the sand I immediately swam down without hesitation let go of my light and grabbed the monster with two hands… The biggest bug I have ever put my hands on. He flapped its tail numerous times and I could feel the power of this old guy. So then I had options for this bug I had no intention of keeping to eat, only wanting a nice photo and release.

#1. Put into my bag with the other six, risking loosing all the bugs. (Probably wouldn’t have fit anyway)
#2. Wrap him around my chest in a Bear hug and swim back to the Kayak with him chewing on my wetsuit.
#3. Let him go and pursue #7 on the long swim back to the Kayak

Well I chose option #3 and watched as this monster bug swam backward out to deep water surprisingly
Very quickly and with great mobility for such a big and old bug.
I never caught #7 and looking back I should have chosen option #2 and then it would not be just another fish tale but an actual recorded catch of a life time. And I would be sending a photo rather than this long drawn out e-mail tall tale of my 8-12 lb. catch

I believe that there will be a Next time.
