Wonderful shot Kal!! Wouldn't it be great if the whole shadow could be there too?? But well... It's still a great one ;)

Yes, this one is very nice. Stop the action, NOW!

Not original either, I'll go with alem, "great timing".
Your title is perfect, they are suspended in the air. A very expressive image, Kal.

Thanks all. Jen, I do see a link between the images...the bleak context as Ray points out. I had a look at Jeff's crop, but it lost the context. This was happening on a street corner in Shanghai. No room to play, so play on the streets...like only going through the motions of play...K

I have somewhat a mix feelings about this picture. This picture in general suppose to express happiness. But the surroundings and the B&W make it look grim. I feel that a face with a big smile here would warm my heart, but it isn't there. I feel some bitterness and happyness at the same time.

I think it would seem typical with a view of the faces or even one face. Without them the mystery is there. You do get a sense of wonderment or happiness due to the kid's and the expression through their intent in the activity or their concentration in what they are doing. If they were looking into the camera that would show distraction away from what they are doing. Well done.

I think the composition is perfect as it is, a social commentary, that children will find joy in any environment. The real suspense is how long they will keep their innocence when they finally get grounded as adults.

I have warned you, Kal: your child-creation has a mind of its own!

I like this shot a lot and agree with Phil about the missing experession. Here's an idea - since we can't see the boys' faces, why not just crop them out entirely, basically right above the boy's hands? (As you can probably tell by now, I'm crop-happy!). That way, the viewer can focus on the joy of the boys jumping, and not the missing faces...the viewer will use his/her imagination and assume the boys are smiling and having fun. (If you are PS, you might want to remove that white bucket as it distracts).

Kal, I hope you don't mind these suggestions - I wouldn't make them if I didn't think the image was very strong to begin with.

Very expressive shot Kal!

Agree Phil. I had two images with his face, but not the same suspension in the air. The expression without the suspension didn't work. Kal

A moment caught in time that expresses the energy of childhood. You abstract it well with black and white and by shooting the foreground figure from behind. I wish we could see the expression on the face of the child in the background, however. We could use some human emotion here to deepen and broaden the point you are trying to express -- pleasure. As you know, I cherish abstraction, and what it can do for the imagination of the viewer. But you have just missed -- by only few inches of space -- a great opportunity to contrast the abstracted figure to an emotionally responsive subject here. If you had positioned yourself just a bit more to the right, this would have worked more completely for you.
