Greetings from the Rabid Snow Puppy*
by mlynn

I'm curious to know if this looks too dark on other people's monitors.
It looks fine on mine, but I think my monitor might be rather bright.

Melanie, I just wanted to add my sincere condolences. I'm sure this is just a sad time for you; our pets really are very much a part of who we are. Bev

Lovely, Melanie. He seems to be having fun and a bit oblivious to what the white around his face suggests.

Cute capture - I love the snow on his muzzle! I really like the border too, especially the little pawprints. I'm so sorry about your loss of Pooka.

Mike and Ann, thank you both very much; I really appreciate your words. This might sound odd, but it's weird being me without her. Ann, I'm sorry to hear about Pogo. --Melanie

Hi Melanie. Very lovely dog here. So sorry to hear about Pooka. Our senior cat Pogo seems to be heading down that road too. We keep giving her meds but she seems to be slowing noticably. My condolances. Our pets are members of the family and their loss as hard to take. I hope you find solace in memories of the years you had together. Ann

Melanie, I'm very, very sorry. Although their lives are so much shorter than our own, she lived to a very old age with you. I know how much she must have meant to you...and how very much you cared for her. I know she'll be missed as a member of your family. Sincere condolences. MFC

Thank you all for your comments. I actually replaced this image a couple of times after I posted it, after doing other/additional levels adjustments.

I'm afraid that was the last day I was outside with all 3 of my dogs. That evening Pooka, my oldest german shepherd (her younger sister will be 13 in January), laid down in the living room, and never got up again. I knew it would be soon, I just didn't think it would be that soon. I'd tried to prepare myself; but I don't know how you can prepare yourself for the loss of such a large and beautiful personality. --Melanie

This is wonderful, Melanie! He is just so charming, and you really caught a good moment (clever greeting, too). Looks fine on my screen. Helen

I love this greeting card, Melanie! Especially with the borders with paw prints - that is very clever! The image's brightness looks fine on my monitor. Very good job!

Adorable puppy and a great card. Your border is wonderful. The photo looks fine on my monitor..kind of like a cloudy day snow. It gives the feeling of a warm puppy in cold snow ;-))

This is really cute, Melanie. Yep, he looks rabid alright...look at all the "froth" around his muzzle :) I really like the tracks he made toward the water and the color contrast with the winter surroundings. Very nice how you did your text & border line to create the greeting. This doesn't look too dark to me; but when I take the photo into PS and use the white point selector in levels adjustments to touch the brightest part of the snow, the whole photo becomes just a tad brighter...and without the slight hue Mike refers to. Nice capture, Melanie...and a very cute greeting. MFC

Great shot, Melanie, and neat card. I like the spot of color that the puppy provides, the natural setting, and especially your border. Rabid - lol! I know what you mean. We have a new kitten and I spend most of the day saving her from herself :-)
(This image isn't too dark on my monitor, but is slightly darker than your first picture - and I know my monitor is bright).

Thanks Mike! Pink, huh? I wasn't intending that or sepia; I guess I need to learn how to calibrate my monitor. I might upload another version later, to see if I can correct that. --Melanie

Looks just right to me, Melanie, on a recently calibrated monitor, though you could lift it a bit if you wanted, to underscore the freshness of the snow. It is coming up a tad pink overall though -- not sure if that (or maybe sepia) was your intent. I love the borders on these two, especially the paw prints! :-) -- Mike
