a good shot.but the stance seems awkward.as if the choreography was out of sync.I would drop this one.

So many things have been said, I'm too lazy to read all, but I'll only add it's a really rich image, with lot of things to see in it. I especially like the narrative content, the fact the two men are "saying" something with their bodies, their expressions.

This image kind of explains the portrait of the sitting man.
Guest 24-Nov-2005 02:43
Man sitting seems to be sad and the one standing is happy! great contrast of emotions...

A fine line between portraits and street photography, anyone who say National Geographic's Best Portraits, can appreciate the fact that portraits don't end at being close ups of poeple faces or with backgrounds being out of focus, so to this degree I disagree with Phil.
Either way it's not important what you call it, but what it is, and imo it's a superb image with debth and all the elements falling into right places, I agree with you Kal, apart from the players, running shoes and cycles are the key to this image, without it would but just another photo.

This pictures is so rich of elements, Khal.
As someone rightly noticed, there is really a nearly friendly interaction with one of the subject and it makes the picture cheerful and full of positivity.
The moped seems to me less influent than the running shoes, which are really the first detail I noticed.
The man looks comfortable, self-confident and friendly. The second man has only an apparent side role, in my personal opinion. He's as important as the other one.
He's like a cautious and wise witness of changing time.
For me the moped doesn't bring anything more to the scene, even though I can understand why you considered it important too.
I would have nearly cropped it away.
Fantastic picture once again.
I'm never tired to visit your world.

Too much going on here, Kal, for a portrait. But it remains an excellent example of street photography. Full of energy, provided by the incongruous contrast between the two men. All the bikes and motorbikes suggest energy as well, even if the all are standing still at the moment. The running shoes are an important incongruous detail that also symbolize energy.

Putting on a show for you!
Go man go!

Interesting shot! The man is very happy with his new-style of running shoes which doesn't really go with his clothing, but he seems so happy as if he finially catch up with this fast speed new world. But to be frank, I didn't really notice the shoes at first glimpse until Scott pointed out...:(

Thank you Scott!! Those running shoes and moped bike are a key to this image. They date it "The Old Town Today"...it's what attracted me to taking the image. K

The old buildings the bikes, the old man with the new running shoes. Very strange planet anymore. Regards Kal. Always thanks for the support.
