Along this part of the river there used to be hundres of small leisure boats moored parallel to the river bank. These blocks and chains are part of the anchorage system still in place. The popularity of small boat owning has declined dramatically in recent years, due to huge rises in mooring costs. There are only a few boats moored here now.
