Established in 1896 and currently occupied as a Bed and Breakfast, the light is currently active as a private aid to navigation. Located on Big Bay Point on the western edge of Big Bay' entrance to Lake Superior the impressive structure (again Square/ Integral Brick style) stands 65 feet tall. The Big Bay area is fairly remote and the winters must be really severe. We met people who stayed at this Bed and Breakfast and found the experience anjoyable and entertaining "The food was good too!"
