Scientific name: Coragyps atratus (Bechstein, 1793). Not globally threatened.
The Black Vulture is also known as the Carrion Crow, Black-headed Buzzard, Jim Crow, and Black Buzzard. It is the only member of the genus Coragyps.
Distribution: This bird is found in open regions in the southeastern United States. It also occurs throughout Central America and South America to central Chile
and central Argentina, Trinidad, and Margarita Island.
