The turtle carries the baby on his back and each of the trinkets attached to the baby symbolizes gifts that we all have to share. We pass this knowlege on to our children. The HOOP represents unity, working and getting along with each other. The CROSS represents sharing religion and our beliefs. The BIRDS represents that we can speak to each other, share a song or good words with an elder. The FLOWER represents that we can share the land, and the medicine plants for healing. The WAMPUM represents money, which we can share or help someone in need. The HEART represents the love that we have for each other. The ARROW represents protection. We must look out for and protect each other and also watch out for each others children. The MEDICINE BUNDLE means we can always pray for each other.
This particular turtle now lives with us.
