More typical Vermont images - dairy cows, or in Darling's case (that's her name) Jersey cows. Not quite the same image as a Ben & Jerry's ad cow (nice tour - lots of free samples) but a member of one of the nation's premier dairy herds (or so I'm told). At the Billings Farm near Woodstock, VT. Darling says go to http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/50072787 to see her in all of her glory. Taken fairly early on a foggy morning before the farm opened to the public (don't ask). Darling & I got along famously (I made the mistake of rubbing her head & scratching her ears - responded the same as my little Maltese except for rolling over & wanting a stomach rub).
This was taken with my 12-24 wide angle at 12mm - the camera's about a foot from her face. (I left the motel at 5:30 AM; drove for an hour; and then discovered I'd left half of my gear in the motel including the lens I'd have used normally. A stroke of luck, actually, as it forced me to use the ultra-wide and discover what a joy that can be.) She enjoyed trying to eat a tripod leg.
Sorry about this gusher of photos - trying to catch up with the PADs taken during my week in Vermont.
