No problems today on the camera front. Well, not really, that is. Once again I only realised this evening that I was shooting on manual white balance, but this time the gods were with me, because I also remembered later that I had set the correct balance last night. So today there was a happy ending. I also cleaned my sensor again last night (I think I'll have to put the sensor swipes and pec pads out of reach for a while!), so now it is all pristine and clear. Now that I have taken the plunge, as it were, twice, I wonder what all the fuss and fear was about all along. Honestly, if you can brush your own teeth, you are more than capable of swabbing down your sensor. In almost all other regards, today was a bit of a non-event. The weather was blustery, to say the least, so at least Liam will have something to do on Saturday when I get him to clear up the leaves from the garden. No doubt he'll want a tenner, and I'll have to follow him around picking up after him. But, hey, that's Liam, and I love him all the same. I watched R*****s getting beaten by Inter Milan. They only lost 1-0, which was a shame, because I was looking forward to a nice high scoring game. Alas, it wasn't to be. But at least they still lost, so it wasn't all bad. Seven years ago today I launched the CPHRC - my research centre which, at its peak, was getting 75,000 hits a month (not bad for a site about Portuguese political history) and which has run two international conferences and published a book! Now, as a result of severe funding shortages (i.e. it's broke), it is temporarily suspended. Still, happy birthday all the same, CPHRC.
I was a little homesick this time last year
