September 11 2005:
Orthodox

Today I visited the church of St Edward the Martyr that is situated within the grounds of Brookwood cemetery. It was another place that opened its doors to visitors this weekend.

It is one of the few orthodox churches in the area – other ones being at Kingston and Reading.

Note the icons placed on the walls – there are upwards of 200 within this small church.

A true icon heaven. Well done, especially for a dimly lit church.
